After working with a number of venues beta testing our hourly forecasting model in 2018, we’ve released this model into general availability, starting with venues who utilize footfall as their visitation source.
This model predicts the number of visitors through the door, on an hourly basis, for up to 2 weeks at a time (with a forecast produced on a weekly basis). Featured factors are similar to that of daily visitation forecast, but also include short term features, such as various aspects of the weather forecast.
Hourly forecasting is an important tool for achieving operational efficiency, great for resource planning, such as:
- Staff rostering (particularly front of house and security teams)
- Inventory management (such as hospitality preparations)
- Activities scheduling (such as timed experiences, including tours)
By using granular forecasting to inform resource planning decisions, leaner teams, inventory and activity can be planned, as opposed to a requirement to plan for maximum capacity – providing important cost savings.
To access hourly forecasting, simply select the Forecasting module from the left hand navigation menu, and then click Run on the Visitation Planner model.
As with our other forecasting models, you can also access hourly forecasting visualizations in the reporting module, to automate forecasting communications to staff.
Release date: January 28th 2019
Over the coming weeks, this model will also be rolled out for venues who use various ticketing vendors as their primary source of truth for counting visitors.
