Data from Dexibit’s global portfolio of visitor attractions.
With visitor attractions having returned to normal visitation compared to pre pandemic, the question for 2023 is – are they now growing?Â
In the first half of calendar 2023, visitor attractions globally grew 29.60% year on year – the fastest growth the sector has experienced in recent years.
This comes despite the fact that the average visitation recovery (compared to prepandemic) was 84% during the first half of 2022. Together, these indicate that visitor attractions are now seeing true growth, not just recovery.
In fact, the greatest median gains of all time have been those seen this far in July 2023 – of 88%!Â
What’s even more remarkable is comparing this back to the last prepandemic year, when the visitor attraction sector experienced a contraction in visitation before the pandemic begun, which was particularly evident in the summer season for the northern hemisphere.
